NY Trip Goodies

Here are 3 more great pics! Good job in taking these, whoever you are. Hahaha!

This one just blew me away. Nice one!

The familiar scene of someone beating up john yu. Except that the picture is so well taken. Check out the surreal surroundings. Wow.

This is Adi. How did you ever manage to take this shot? Personally this is one of my favourites. It displays a raw sense of interest, coupled with an intellect that has technology on his side (his specs), mixed with a navy blue coating and finally stir-fried to become Adi.

uber random stuff

Hello.

Let's gather everyone back again - firstly I would like to say that I'm no longer appearing on MSN so please use the normal method of emailing me if you wish to contact me or sms me.

And probably because of the recent inactivities of the sec 4s we do not have much emails on YahooGroups except for Jinghui's as of 2204hrs today. (20/08)

But I don't get the RISEforums RISEblogs RISEYahoogroups so many don't know which one to post on. So here goes.

In case anyone doesn't know rehearsals have recently been angled literally to the violin 1s - just some cool info for anyone who's setting up -.- it may change, who knows.

I'm trying my upmost best to post non-crap stuff. but it does not seem to be working.

Ok bye.

David's close shave without a shaver

Eh i just got this from david. You know...that one day he was pissing me off real bad...so i saw him standing next to the water-thingy...then i felt a sudden compelling urge to push him in. So i powered over like a raging bull #2 and this it what happened...

Fortunately kuangnan reacted in a lightning-quick kungfu-magic chinaman-blur and saved his sorry butt. A little slower and dave'll have become a luo4 tang1 ji1 (chicken that dropped into soup). Here the chicken is dave. And the soup is the vast expanse of clear, calm, collected liquid known to man as water.

Lesson to be learnt: Never stand next to water when you've just pissed Adriel Chang off. And 2, always have a kuangnan or someone similar who has quick chinaninja reflexes that'll respond at the right place, and at the right time.

Brother Wang

Yo dawgs check it out! Brother Jerry Walter Wang is in da HOUUUSEE!!!

Thats the 3 random photos of our favourite Sec4...Brother Jerry Walter Wang!!

Alright here's some from today. After school Toh Xue Qian, Adriel Chang and Brother Jerry Walter Wang gathered in 4K classroom to have a showdown of musical talents. It is my proud honour to announce that Brother Jerry Walter Wang beat the other 2 by 1298 points! A remarkable scoreline if you ask me. Adriel Chang and Alex Sally Toh were beaten soundly with them obtaining scores of 5 and 5.5 respectively. Brother Jerry Walter Wang blew away the oppostion with a stunning collection of 1303 points! My goodness gracious!

Lucky for you we have some memoirs from the event. A few pictures of his breath-taking showcase..

Action Stance #1 - Brother Jerry Walter Wang entered the fight with a Bang! The opposition were thrown offguard and offcentre and offbalance!

Action Stance #2 - This one sealed the opposition's doom. Here's a closeup!

As you can see from his determined expression, the fight was close, but not close enough as Brother Jerry Walter Wang showed his prowess through grit and sheer skill. His bow flitting back and forth like a girl's hand when she's giving her ex-boyfriend a bitch-slap, it certainly weaved magic on his beautiful brown-coloured-varnish violin as heavenly notes filled the air and resonated in the close confines of the small classroom. It was a peformance unlike any other. Opposition Toh Xue Qian could only stare in amazement..

Yes. I know you're amazed. This very person was caught sleeping during Headmaster's Assembly. Someone who sleeps during a 100%-exciting talk is amazed by violin playing? The player must be some bomb! Check it out!

Alright just to end off. Here's a nice picture taken at NY ^^

hello all, in case you'll don't know, there's ALWAYS a soccer ball inside the rehearsal room. It's behind the whiteboard, I guess most of you'll should know about it already. Just informing those who don't know.

And and kaicheng has this freaking cool RISE website that deserves a domain. Maybe we can all buy a domain - each person 10 cents? six dollars or something - www.rise.org or something...

Kuangnan: Cockroaches spotted near basses

Hello all!

This is to Kuangnan. Kinda first post related to String Ensemble. I spotted a few cockroaches in the Design Centre at the stage area. And I saw a few wandering inside the basses. It might be a good idea to shift it near our stands (beside the Design Centre left from the entrance)

It wouldn't be a good idea to see cockroaches emerging from the F-holes though! :)

Oh btw this isn't a joke. I was standing there for about half-an-hour and I seriously spotted lots of cockroaches.

Mstislav Rostropovich, Master Cellist

As some of you may know, a great man passed away on 27th April, yesterday. Born and raised in Russia, Mstislav Rostropovich learnt not only the piano and cello, but also conducting and composition. His first claim to fame on the cello came when he won the Gold medal in the first EVER Soviet Union competition for young musicians.

In 1950, at the age of 23, he was awarded the Stalin Prize, what was then considered the highest distinction in the Soviet Union. The Stalin Prize of 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees was awarded annually to individuals in the fields of science, mathematics, literature, arts, and architecture to honour the most prominent achievements which either advanced the Soviet Union or the cause of socialism.

Rostropovich fought for art without borders, freedom of speech, and democratic values. He was also banned from several musical ensembles in his homeland after he left the Soviet Union to settle in the United States, and his Soviet citizenship was revoked in 1978 because of his public opposition of the Soviet Union's restriction of cultural freedom.

To honour his contributions, he was awarded The Order of Service to the Fatherland, First Degree, for his "outstanding contribution to the development of world music and many years of creative activity," presented by President Vladimir Putin, 02/26/2007. He was a great man, musician...husband and father, which some of us may never turn out to be.

He was a leader, a thinker and a pioneer. We shall all strive to be the same, and who knows....you may very well be the next Rostropovich =)

i'd better start the ball rolling..

looks like the cboxes are rather alive, but the posts arent,
so i've decided to say something.
.. but im still not sure what to say. hrm..
lets see.
ok, so all of you know that we're having an off day, thanks to us (kind of anyway), and so we can relax. ok, not really. coz there are ccts coming up... but let's forget that.

many musicians in rise still don't know about this blog, so i think we can do our part and tell them. right.

and
maybe mr sze, miss shen and mr ong can be introduced to this blog?
ok, maybe that's not such a good idea, but let's think about it.

ok
i've run out of things to say.

auspicium melioris musiciori aevi
wdv..
